Campaign For Wool

Abraham Moon and Sons are proud to be supporters of the Campaign for Wool

Patron: His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales

His Royal Highness understands the need for natural solutions and recognises wool as the first choice for sustainability, durability and quality.

The campaign for wool is a five year campaign designed to demonstrate wool’s natural sustainable qualities and supreme versatility.

HRH The Prince of Wales has confirmed his patronage of the campaign for its duration in a bid to encourage a more responsible and sustainable way of living

Wool organisations from around the world have come together with wool growers, manufacturers, designers and retailers to show you just how diverse and adaptable wool is.

Investing in wool for your home guarantees a wealth of natural benefits whilst providing luxurious softness and comfort. There’s no finer feeling than when you are living with wool.

Wool is:

A safe solution

A safe fibre for home interiors as it is naturally flame retardant due to its high water and nitrogen content. It has a higher ignition threshold than many other fibres and will produce less toxic and noxious fumes.

Biodegradable

When wool is disposed of it will decompose over time and not end up in landfill.

Breathable

Wool’s natural structure allows it to absorb and release water vapour into the atmosphere and regulate temperature.

Comfortable

Softness is a key asset of wool in the home; it creates a feeling of luxurious comfort.

Durable

Wool is known to be strong and resilient, a wool fibre can be bent 20,000 ties without breaking and still have the power to recover.

Easy care

Wool is easily maintained. It has the ability to trap dust due to its microscopic scales so carpets and upholstery can be simply vacuumed and be revitalised. Wool is also hydrophobic which means spills are initially repelled allowing adequate time to deal with spillages.

Elastic

The wool fibre has a unique crimp providing it with a natural elasticity which means it will return to its natural shape and resists  compression. Wool maintains its good appearance in the longer term, reducing the need to replace and adding value to the product.

Natural

Sheep live on grass, water, fresh air and sunshine. Sheep produce a fibre that has become one of the most effective natural forms of all weather protection known to man.

Natural insulator

Wool can insulate the home providing and retaining warmth; in turn reducing energy costs in the home. Wool carpets and furnishings will  absorb echo and reduce room-to-room noise transfer.

Sustainable

Every year a sheep produces a new fleece; making wool a renewable fibre source.
